Hosting #1 / See-through

Kerem Shemi, Eva Leemans, Inbar Kubi, Marina Sarno & Elvina Pinto

20.07.2019

doors open 20:00

HOSTING starts off with its first event »see-through« presenting two dance performances one by Kerem Shemi in collaboration with Eva Leemans and the other by Inbar Kubi with music by Marina Sarno, followed by a live set by Elvina Pinto.
Choose your viewing angle! Everybody will see, but not the same.

20:30
»Placing, marking, dancing«
Choreography, performance: Kerem Shemi
Co-creation, performance: Eva Leemans
Music: Klara Lewis – Surfaced, The Ba-Benzélé Pygmies – Hindewhu
Spacial, temporal and physical happenings unfold relations and meanings, which are constructed and dissolved, filled and emptied. The inside is extended out and the outside resonates in. Processes of clarity and arbitrariness become intertwined into a dynamic space, moving on the thin line between the sense and the non- sense.
Kerem Shemi is an Israeli dancer, choreographer, martial artist and teacher, based in Berlin. Her daily practice consists of a unique combination of dance and martial arts, which is manifested in her choreography and teaching. Kerem received her BA in dance and choreography at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. From there she continued her movement research in China and Berlin, living and training full time at the WDP Academy for Internal Chinese Martial Arts of Wudang.
Eva Leemans is a contemporary dancer from Belgium, based in Berlin. She recently graduated from NSCD (UK), and since then she’s been developing and performing her own solo work »Reality Check«, as well as performing and creating as part of Excessive Human Collective (Leeds, UK).

»Sketches from the dancefloor«
Choreography, performance: Inbar Kubi
Music: Marina Sarno
3 sound representations. The first, engraved on the dancers body, second, materialized on paper spread on the wall and third, transferred through the compression or decompression of the air. Like real air drawings, wirelessly reaching our ears membrane.
Coming from the thought that music and dance, each one of them stands for itself and doesn’t necessarily need the other – in this work Inbar Kubi and Marina Sarno are questioning the relation between music and dance.
Inbar Kubi is an independent dancer and choreographer. Born in Israel and currently living in Berlin. She received her BA in dance and choreography at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Since then she is researching dance and movement, interested in creation alone and in collaboration with other artists coming from different fields.
Marina Sarno aka Urubu Marinka. Brazilian artist, came from the school of Visual Arts and Pedagogy Studies. Born on the core center of Brazilian Afro music, undoubtedly her work will bring those elements. Accidentally became a DJ, for 10 years now and since being traveling for gigs and expanding interests with music making and technology.

21:30
»Undercurrents«
Live set: Elvina Pinto
The short live set will comprise of cinematic style landscapes intertwining with emotive melodic lines and live improvisation in order to experiment with the underlying feeling of sound atmospheres.

Elvina Pinto is a Berlin based dancer, singer and musician. In 2016, she released an EP titled The Well alongside MS in Umbria, Italy, which combined styles of Italian Cinema and Alt-country western sounds. She is currently experimenting with various composition techniques, sampling and synthesizers in order to find a new language of expression.
